WP2 Strategy and Business Development

  • Define and manage the overall project strategy, in collaboration with relevant boards.
  • Support evolution of services by managing the service roadmap, service portfolio and service catalogue, in collaboration with the Technology Committee.
  • Define a sustainability plan for organising and sustaining the provision of data & compute resources to European Researchers in the context of the European Open Science Cloud.
  • Formulate policies to facilitate the sharing and safe processing of both open and “restricted” data from across European research infrastructures and promote current models of good practice on the management of restricted data from around the EOSC-hub consortium.
  • Ensure ongoing liaison with other strategic initiatives (RDA, EOSCpilot, e-Infra-12 (b), ESFRI Funder Forum) in view of aligning strategic activities and exploiting synergies.

WP4 Federated Service Management

  • Implement ITSM best practices across the federation, and plan for the continuous improvement of the operational architecture
  • Coordinate the federated operations of the service providers in the project, by defining the policies and procedures, and their implementation, to ensure quality of service and security
  • Support new service providers joining the federation and enable new users to access the services in the catalogue, and ensure the quality of the services provided to the existing users
  • Collect usage statistics for the benefit of the users and the service providers
  • WP4 will also collaborate with other initiatives, for example GÉANT, to exchange best practices and knowledge and mutually improve operational processes.

WP5 Federation and Collaboration Services: Integration and Maintenance

  • Maintain the high-quality of the federation and collaboration services and tools according to a maintenance plan, and ensure that they evolve according to the developing requirements. Includes software maintenance (e.g. bug fixes) and perfective maintenance to improve their performance and maintainability.
  • Integrate the federation and collaboration services and tools according to an integration plan and support the integration with common and thematic services.
  • Identify requirements and opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyse opportunities and requirements to consolidate the business and operational process harmonisation by further integrating the federation and collaboration services of different conceptual frameworks.
  • Support the evolution of the services and tools that enable national and regional IT services to join or interoperate with the pan-European EOSC-hub network.

WP8 Competence Centres

  • Running proofs of concept to test the feasibility of use cases, based on specific scientific and technical requirements defined by high impact research communities.

WP9 Joint Digital Innovation Hub

  • Create partnerships with SMEs/industry, innovation clusters, accelerators and investors that stimulate innovation (new products, services).
  • Facilitate access to e-Infrastructure resources to support prototyping, scaling-up, design, performance verification, testing, demonstration, development of pilot lines, validation for market replication, including bringing innovation to investment readiness and maturity for market take-up.
  • Connect with regional and pan-European networks of Digital Innovation Hubs.
  • Share best practices and competencies for knowledge transfer between the public and private sector.
  • Develop long-term business relationships outside of/beyond the project.
  • Provide feedback from the SMEs, industries on provided services and infrastructure (also through pilot activities).
  • Offer business oriented coaching with the mission to accelerate market uptake and results in exploitation of the both the pilots and Competence Centres.

WP10 Technical Coordination

  • Define the technical roadmap, with external and internal input from user and service providers’ requirements, existing and planned services, technologies, standards, frameworks.

  • Define and coordinate the annual training plans for supporting research activities (T11.1).
  • Support the implementation of proper DMP for helping research communities to manage their research data efficiently (T11.2).
  • Deliver of IT service management trainings to learn the fundamentals of IT service management processes and support the professional development of EOSC-hub services (T11.3).

WP12 Business Models and Procurement

  • Develop the know-how and the prototype procurement and purchasing framework that interested organisations can use to acquire digital services from either publicly-funded infrastructures or commercial providers.

  • Reduce the barriers, risks and administrative cost to purchase digital services for research and to provide key building blocks for the future European Open Science Cloud.
